Painting Of Girls Working On An Art and Craft Project

I originally created this artwork as an illustration for a book, but as the printing was to be done in black and white I did a simple version of the painting with a brush and black ink. It reproduced nicely but I always liked the art and wanted to see it given some color. A lot of color, after all the whole point of the drawing was really about color. The girls were working on an arts and craft project. They were absorbed in the activity and paint and color got spread and splattered all over the place. The monochrome drawing worked for the book but this color version tries to capture the energy and pleasure of going wild with color, no sense of restraint, just playing with everything colorful to see what happens.
