White Tailed Deer Mother and Baby Spotted Fawn

white tailed deer fawn and doe in pond feeding

Today I was lucky to see a nice moment between a mother deer and her baby in a quiet sunny pond. The spotted fawn took some time to nurse, then crawled under his mother before heading out on an adventure in the pond and long grass. The mother deer stood at alert watching me as her little one waded through long grass toward me. He didn’t seem at all concerned about me taking pictures and it even looked like he was trying to make his way around the pond to get a closer look at me. I felt his mother might become nervous about her baby coming so close to me so I just took a few pictures and then backed away to give them peace.
